How to Buy a Gun online

Buying a gun online is as straightforward as purchasing anything else over the internet. However, there’s one crucial difference: firearms cannot be shipped directly to the buyer. Instead, they must be sent to a federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL). Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process.

Placing Your Order

1. Find Your Gun: Browse through the online catalog and select the firearm you want.
2. Add to Cart: Add the chosen firearm to your shopping cart.
3. Proceed to Checkout: Click the “Proceed to Checkout” button on the Shopping Cart page.
4. Login or Guest Checkout: Login to your account or opt for Guest Checkout.
5. Enter Billing Information: Fill in your billing address details. The billing address must match the ID of the person who will complete the Form 4473. Note: P.O. Boxes are not accepted.
6. Select FFL Dealer: Enter your zip code and choose the radius for your FFL search. Then, select the FFL dealer who will receive your firearm and handle the transfer.
7. Choose Shipping Method: Select your preferred shipping method.
8. Payment Information: Enter your payment details.
9. Review and Place Order: Double-check your order details and click “Place Order.”

That’s it! You’ll receive an order confirmation email shortly. When your order ships, you’ll get another email with tracking information.

Important Information

If your firearm is not being shipped to a Rare Breed Trigger store, you must coordinate with your chosen dealer to send a copy of their FFL license to us . We cannot ship your order until we receive this. If we don’t receive the FFL license within seven days, your order will be canceled.

After Your Gun Has Been Delivered

If your firearm was shipped to a Rare Breed Trigger store, please allow 24 hours for it to be checked in. The store will contact you when it’s ready for pickup. If you haven’t heard from them within 24 hours, give them a call. If your firearm was shipped to another FFL dealer, contact them directly to check the status.

Transferring Your Firearm

When you arrive at your chosen FFL dealer:

1. Inspect the Firearm: Before starting the transfer process, thoroughly inspect the firearm. Once the transfer is complete, the gun is yours and cannot be returned to Rare Breed Trigger.
2. Defective Firearm: If the gun is defective, leave it with the dealer and contact us immediately. We will arrange for the firearm to be returned at no cost to you or the dealer.
3. Complete Form 4473: Follow the dealer’s instructions to complete the Firearms Transaction Record (Form 4473).
4. Background Check: The dealer will call in the FBI background check.
5. Transfer Completion: If you pass the background check, follow the dealer’s instructions to complete the transfer.
6. Waiting Period: If your state requires a waiting period, it begins after passing the background check. If no waiting period is required, you can take your gun home immediately.

Things to Keep in Mind

• Know the Laws: It is your responsibility to be aware of the laws in your area regarding firearm purchase, transfer, and ownership.
• Contact FFL Dealer: Ensure your chosen FFL dealer will process your transfer. Contact them before placing your order to confirm they will accept the shipment and to inquire about transfer fees.
• Inspect Before Transfer: Thoroughly inspect the firearm before starting the transfer process. Once complete, the firearm is yours and cannot be returned.
• Manufacturer Issues: If you encounter problems with your firearm after the transfer, contact the manufacturer for warranty and repair issues.
• Failed Background Check: If you fail the background check, return shipping costs will be deducted from your refund.
